Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance at this time. You might be able to use your out-of-network benefits for reimbursement of psychotherapy services. It is your responsibility to verify benefits and submit for reimbursement. I will provide a superbill upon request.
  • Why don't you accept insurance?
Unfortunately, I have found that accepting insurance often led to hours on the phone trying to gain payment and clients being left with unexpected bills even with proper paperwork submitted. I have since chosen to charge out of pocket to avoid any surprise bills in your inbox. Private pay has also been found to increase commitment and buy-in leading to better outcomes, as well as, increased privacy and no requirement for a diagnostic label for payment (one might be required for out-of-network reimbursement).
  • What are your rates?
Charges vary by service and length of time. Please visit the rates page for more specific information. Intake session $200/90 minutes Individual therapy $125/50 minute sessions Specialized session $200/90 minute session Coaching session $90/50 minute session
  • What are HSA/FSA benefits?
HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) accounts are benefits offered by some employers to allow for use of pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified medical expenses. Therapy is often a qualifying expense. It is your responsibility to verify benefits and allowable expenses. Dependent upon your plan, you may pay using your HSA/FSA card through Square, my EHR platform, or seek reimbursement of direct payments made. You will be provided with a superbill/receipt upon request. HSA/FSA benefits are not applicable for coaching sessions.
  • Can you tell me what my Out-of-Network or HSA/FSA benefits are?
Unfortunately, I do not have access to this information. It is the client's responsibility to contact their benefits administrators or contact their plan providers for details on how to use these benefits and what services they apply to. I am able to provide a list of questions that may be helpful to ask upon request.
  • Can you submit my reimbursement forms for me?
I am unable to assist in the submission of reimbursement forms for out-of-network or HSA/FSA benefits, however, I will provide the superbill/receipt for payment for services rendered upon request.
  • What types of payment do you accept?
I accept payment through Square which allows the use of debit, credit, and HSA/FSA cards. Checks by mail in advance of sessions can be used as an acceptable form of payment when received prior to scheduled sessions. Please see the Rates & Payments page for more information.
  • What if I can't afford your rates?
Clients being able to obtain quality and affordable therapy is important to me. For this reason, I do have a limited number of sliding fee scale therapy slots. If you are unable to afford my current rates, please Contact Me for information on availability, how to apply for these, and/or to be added to the sliding scale wait list.
  • Are there other fees not listed on the website?
Yes, there are additional fees which are listed within informed consents and discussed in detail during the intake session. These fees are strictly related to more unusual instances and on par with industry standards. These fees include costs related to supportive phone calls over 15 minutes in length, cancelled or returned payment fees, costs related to court summons or appearances, and records or documentation requests.
  • Do I have to complete an intake session for coaching?
Yes, the intake session is required for all client services. These sessions are structured to allow us to get to know each other, review policies and expectations, client rights and responsibilities, informed consents, assessments, and identifying goals.
  • Why is an intake session 90 minutes?
Intake sessions are offered at 90 minutes due to the amount of material to review, as well as, history taking, completion of several assessments, and our initial treatment planning discussion. Intake sessions can be completed over multiple 50 minute sessions. At times, additional sessions will be used to continue gathering necessary information.
  • Is therapy confidential?

Your privacy is our utmost priority, and strict guidelines are followed to ensure that your personal information remains protected. Sessions are held by HIPAA secure platform Payments are received by HIPAA secure systems Emails, messages, and calls from therapist are completed through HIPAA secure systems. • Is teletherapy as effective as in-person sessions?
Yes, teletherapy offered online is just as effective as in-person sessions. I have received specialized training to provide high-quality virtual therapy sessions, ensuring that clients receive the same level of care and support as they would in person. Research has shown that teletherapy can be just as effective as traditional therapy, with some clients even reporting greater comfort and convenience with online sessions. With that stated, telehealth is not right for everyone. If at any time your needs go beyond what can be supported by a teletherapy format, I will discuss the need for in-person treatment.
  • How many sessions will I need?
The number of therapy sessions needed varies for each individual and depends on their unique circumstances and therapeutic goals. I work with you to conduct an initial assessment to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for you. Factors such as the nature and severity of your concerns, your personal preferences, and your commitment to the therapy process will all influence the recommended number of sessions. I offer longer specialized sessions to facilitate reprocessing at a faster pace, often decreasing the total number of sessions needed to move through content.
  • How often are sessions?
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly to facilitate consistency in use of skills, provide adequate support, and continuous progress. The frequency of sessions is based upon client need and agreed upon plan. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed.
  • When is telehealth therapy not appropriate?
Psychotherapy via telehealth services are not recommended for all client situations. For example, when concerns include recent safety issues (suicidal ideation, self-harming, homicidal ideations, active domestic violence, etc), major psychiatric episodes and/or hospitalizations telehealth care may not be appropriate for you at this time. If you are uncertain if this applies to you, scheduling a free consultation can help us both make an informed decision as to whether my services are right for you via telehealth.
  • What if I am late to a session?
As indicated in the intake paperwork and discussions, I will wait 15 minutes into a scheduled session time for you to join the therapy space. If you are late to session, I will be unable to extend session to compensate for this missed time due to operating hours and other constraints. The full session rate will be charged.
  • What if my therapist is late to session?
In the unlikely event I am late to a session, I request the same 15 minute courtesy extended to clients. However, if session is unable to be provided at the expected duration (50 or 90 minutes). A prorated reimbursement or account credit will be applied for missed session time.
